West Brom To Cash In On Duo Before Strengthening For The Championship Campaign Ahead

|

With transfer silly season in full flow, the Mirror have certainly gone out on a limb with the suggestion that Burnley and Sean Dyche are planning a £25million raid for defender Craig Dawson and striker Jay Rodriguez.

The report states that the rather large offer has already been ‘tabled’ as they move quickly to strengthen their group but there is nothing else concrete in the report. It’s not completely without merit though, Burnley are well aware of what Rodriguez can do given his spell with them earlier in his career and he is the type of striker they lack. With ongoing speculation about Ben Mee, Dawson isn’t a bad shout at a replacement if you had to make an educated guess.

With Jonny Evans jumping ship to Leicester City, whether Darren Moore would allow Dawson to now leave is open for debate.

The report also leans on Salomon Rondon to Newcastle United reports, saying that Rafa Benitez is ready to meet the claimed £16.5million release clause in his deal.

If those deals do go through, we will have more than enough spare cash to satisfy the speculation surrounding potential targets.

The Birmingham Mail report that we weighing up a £6million offer for Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods.

24-year-old Woods has been a key performer for them in recent seasons and caught the attentions of many for his showings in 2017/18. The Mail also link us to teammate Romaine Sawyers as we look to add more of a punch up front. They pull £4million out of the air for that deal.

Bristol City’s Bobby Reid is also linked. He scored 21 times in 52 appearances for them last season and saw himself named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season and he is heading into his final year at Ashton Gate. The Bristol Post however rubbish speculation that ‘talks are at an advanced stage’ although they do state that the club have reportedly received a bid of around £7million from ‘a’ club for his services.

aspor – via a translation – have claimed that we have made a 12million Euro offer for Brazilian midfielder Josef de Souza. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder is going into his final year at Turkish side Fenerbache and he’s also apparently been a target for Black Country rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

No doubt they won’t be the only names we are linked to before this week comes to an end.
