West Brom Striker Outlines His Desire For A Permanent Transfer Away

|

West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon has confirmed that his ‘personal target’ is to secure a permanent switch away from the club and get a new deal at Newcastle United.

The 28-year-old was the subject of heavy transfer speculation over the summer following our relegation from the Premier League and talk of release clauses but he eventually made the switch to St James’ Park and Newcastle United late on in the window in a bizarre loan arrangement that saw Dwight Gayle come in the opposite direction.

I’m still not sure where the real benefit is here when you consider Rondon and his contract, but there was talk of a 12 month option that appeared late on, so we simply have to trust the club do know what they’re doing and we’re not going to lose out on his true transfer value.

Rondon was quoted by Sky Sports ahead of Newcastle’s game this weekend against Cardiff City, and it doesn’t appear Rondon has any wish for a Hawthorns return.

“Moving here permanently is my personal target. And the only way to do that of course is to score goals train really, really hard to hold on to my place.”

I suppose it was fun whilst it lasted and Rondon does talk about the delays in the deal and credit to him for not kicking up a fuss given some of the games that players and agents can play. He clearly wants to be in the Premier League so as long as we’ve covered ourselves financially, I’ll wish him the best as he hasn’t talked West Brom down at any point to my knowledge.
