West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has confirmed that the club have rejected an offer by Manchester City for skipper Jonny Evans.

With interest from Leicester City earlier in the window, Manchester City were linked with the player speculatively about a week ago and Sky Sports reported on Thursday evening that Pep Guardiola had now made an £18million offer for the player – but we rebuffed it.

Speaking in his pre game press conference earlier this morning, Pulis said simply.

‘We’ve turned down an offer for Jonny. We don’t want to sell Jonny and we don’t need to sell him. It would have to be a very, very good offer.’

Pulis went on to say.

‘Jonny understands the situation and where everything is. He is happy here and wants to get on with his football.’

No doubt there will be more on this as the day progresses.
