It was being reported yesterday that West Bromwich Albion had outright dismissed an offer from Leicester City for Jonny Evans.

Sky Sports had a ‘sources understand’ piece running yesterday saying that Leicester had approach West Brom with a formal £10million offer but it had been turned down ‘outright’ as we have no intention of selling the former Manchester United man, especially following the departure of Darren Fletcher to Stoke City on a free.

Having lost our skipper, 29 year old Northern Ireland international Evans is a strong favourite to take the armband next year, especially in light of his experience in the game at both club level and international level.

With over 250 club games to his name as well as 54 international caps, Evans also has two years remaining on his deal at The Hawthorns and with head coach Tony Pulis looking to add to the group, Evans is too important a player to let go.

Whether or not Evans was tempted or Leicester come back with an improved offer remains to be seen, but the press so far suggests West Brom would just entrench their position.
