West Brom Potentially Win Deadline Day With Three Quality Late Additions

|

Plenty of West Bromwich Albion fans were probably wondering what was going on as the January transfer window slammed shut at 11pm without any signs of progress on the deals we’d been working on all day according to reports. We did get three deals done though and we now welcome Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy, Fulham’s Stefan Johansen and Swansea City’s Jefferson Montero to The Hawthorns.

23-year-old Murphy heads in on a loan spell until the end of the season but he is ineligible for the FA Cup fourth round replay having featured in the competition previously for his parent club.

Norwegian international, 28-year-old Johansen also comes in on a loan spell until the end of the campaign and he’s not cup-tied and will bring significant experience given his 46 caps for his country.

29-year-old Montero also has 64 caps for his country, Ecuador, so is another significant head with experience and basically it seems that Moore has tried to give like for like replacements on players who moved on for whatever reason, so our overall squad depth isn’t damaged.

It’s turned into a very good day from an options point of view in my head.

Now we just hope they all hit the ground running.
