It was being reported earlier this afternoon that 36 year old Gareth Barry was at West Bromwich Albion’s training ground to undergo a medical.

Sky Sports were reporting earlier today that having not featured for Everton in their opening day victory over Stoke City because of an ankle injury, the injury wasn’t considered serious so he should have no trouble passing the medical and completing the permanent switch from Everton.

Sky say sources indicate to them that Barry is keen on the move after dropping down Ronald Koeman’s pecking order and a deal could be announced within the next 24 hours.

Having long been linked with Barry this summer, you wouldn’t be surprised to see this deal come off, especially knowing Barry wants to break Ryan Giggs’ Premier League appearance record and he’ll get that chance presumably as Darren Fletcher’s replacement.
