On Thursday morning it was announced that West Bromwich Albion’s caretaker head coach Jimmy Shan had been nominated for the shortlist for the Championship Manager of the Month Award.
Having assumed the role of head coach following the entirely untimely sacking of Darren Moore, despite some subtle tweaks given the makeup of the squad, Shan continued where Moore left off – winning his first three games before then losing his next two, in our usual consistent, inconsistency.
With the squad of players available as we prioritised finances whilst presumably now prioritising the finances of a failure for promotion, maybe more appreciated what Darren actually achieved?
In any event, that shouldn’t take away from Shan who stepped up admirably and deservedly gets the nomination for March owing to the results he oversaw. He finds himself shortlisted alongside Daniel Farke, Dean Smith and Jose Gomes for the gong.

Given the relative circumstances, Shan deserves all the credit he gets and I hope he lifts the award, and I’m not alone.
He deserves an MBE for having to put up with our board messing him about at the moment
