Barnsley have finalised a deal to take Luke Steele back to the club in time for their Wembley semi-final against Cardiff City.

The deal will take him back on loan until the end of the season with an agreement over his reported £8,000/wk wage seemingly struck and the keeper will make his move a permanent one in the summer. It is believed that the Albion have managed to pick up a sell-on clause should Steele be poached in the future!

West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace said: ”I’m delighted for all parties that we’ve been able to reach agreement.”

“We’ve always been happy for Luke to go back to Barnsley and play in the semi-final, providing the deal was right for us.

“We felt we were a big help to Barnsley by allowing Luke to join them for a month and heavily subsidising his wages.

“Now Barnsley’s financial situation has changed due to their lucrative FA Cup run, we’ve managed to strike a deal which suits everyone.”

Nice to see it’s been agreed all round, and Luke gets at least one trip to Wembley. I won’t mention details regarding another site who sought take a swipe at my writing ;-).
