West Brom Hoping For Moore From The EFL Cup This Season

With the Vietnam based EFL Cup round one draw taking place earlier this morning, West Bromwich Albion will be hoping the competition gives us a morale-boosting, let alone financial boosting, Cup run in 2018/19 as we look to shake off the depression of last season’s Premier League relegation.

Last season we made it to the third round after a round two victory over Accrington Stanley – we then, of course, went down 2-1 to eventual winners Manchester City.

This year we face Luton Town at The Hawthorns and anybody looking at Luton the last few years should know that it’ll be a tough test and last season the fell short of the League Two title by only five points as they secured automatic promotion.

It could certainly be a tasty game.

Full ticket details and an exact date will follow, but the game is set for the week commencing Monday, August 13 and there are some rule changes to consider. Extra time has been removed from the competition until you get to the final, so round one through to the semi-finals now goes straight to penalties if scores are tied. The penalties also go back to the ABAB format given last year’s ABBA trial.
