West Brom hit with disappointing update in pursuit of three-goal midfielder

|

West Brom’s chances of re-signing Filip Krovinovic from Benfica are diminishing, with interest emerging in the midfielder from elsewhere, PA journalist Nick Mashiter has reported.

Krovinovic of course spent last season on loan at West Brom, where he scored three goals in 40 league appearances to help the Baggies win automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Baggies boss Slaven Bilic has made no secret of the fact that he wants to bring Krovinovic back to The Hawthorns this summer, although it seems that the prospect of that happening is increasingly unlikely.

According to Mashiter’s latest update, Serie A outfit Bologna are now also interested in signing the Croatian, in a further blow to West Brom’s hopes of completing the signing.

As a result, it is thought that while a deal for West Brom is not completely off the table, the chances of signing Krovinovic are “fading”, with restrictions in the club’s budget further making this signing even harder to pull off.

It has previously been reported that Benfica have rejected a loan to buy offer worth £5.4million from West Brom for Krovinovic, with the Portuguese giants holding out for a fee of £9million upfront this summer.

This will surely be frustrating for West Brom, given how much of an impact Krovinovic made at the club last season.

The entry of Bologna into this transfer pursuit is only going to make things harder for West Brom here, particularly if the Italians are to go in with a big bid for Krovinovic.

Indeed, with Bilic making his desire to bring Krovinovic back to the club here, you feel the pressure is rising on the club to make things happen here, despite the challenges that could present them with.
