West Brom Fans React To Championship Future

Last night’s victory for Southampton over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium ended West Bromwich Albion’s hopes of Premier League survival this season.

After a woeful season under both Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew, the highlights came in the last few weeks as club legend Darren Moore battered some self-pride back into the players and took us on an unbeaten run with some notable victories in the process.

Yesterday he was awarded the Premier League Manager of the Month award in recognition of the change in form at the club following his arrival, but having closed the points gap and lifted us off the bottom of the table – extending survival hopes almost down to the last day when we’d long seemed dead and buried – well everyone wonders ‘what might have been’ had he been appointed one or two games earlier than he was.

Despite his best efforts and significant improvement, ultimately it just wasn’t enough but Moore shoulders no blame in that – the players have to look at themselves as does the club with off-pitch decisions over the past few years.

The fall out will no doubt continue, but given survival seemed so unlikely for such a long time for some it will now have hit harder, for others if they hadn’t got carried away with the hope it won’t have been such a blow.

Some pride has been restored – now which way will the club jerk next?
