West Brom Fans Delighted With Moore’s April Acknowledgement

|

The reaction of West Bromwich Albion fan’s to the news that caretaker legend Darren Moore had been shortlisted for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for April was largely in unison.

Having come in at our lowest ebb as he replaced Alan Pardew, who had previously replaced Tony Pulis as we sat points off any kind of route to safety – having seen us go unbeaten in four with two stand out victories on top, simply put, how could the man not take the April gong?

Moore found himself up against Everton’s Sam Allardyce, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Crystal Palace’s Roy Hodgson and Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho and the big favourite for many would’ve been Pep with the usual Premier League bias.

Delightfully last night though, that bias didn’t come to pass and having closed the gap on those above in April’s game, Moore’s work has rightfully been recognised and he is in receipt of the award.

The icing on the cake for a period was victory over Tottenham lifting us off the bottom of the table and taking our survival hopes to last night’s clash between Swansea City and Southampton.

Unfortunately for us, Southampton won the encounter and in doing so confirmed our relegation back to the Championship after our years in the top-flight.

Moore’s award remained another recent high ahead of that largely expected disappointment, however.

Speaking to wba.co.uk to give his reaction, Moore said.

“I’m delighted, it has been a wonderful joint effort by everyone here. I stand here to collect the award but, as I’ve said before, it has been a joint effort by everyone at West Bromwich Albion Football Club. There has been unity here between all the departments of the club and together that has helped the players put the performances together on the pitch.”

With Baggies fans already on board with how deserving he was of the gong, their reaction certainly comes as no surprise to anybody.

Moore can hold his head up high as we now address the drop.
