Jay Rodriguez hasn’t really had the best of seasons since his Β£12million arrival at West Bromwich Albion from Southampton over the summer.

There has been the recent Football Association investigation after Gaeten Bong’s words with the FA deciding last week that the case hadn’t been proven. Rodriguez did of course dispute those claims from the beginning, but for the club as a whole and the player, with our slide to the bottom of the table, it’s been one thing after another.
The 28-year-old has also been party to some woeful misses as confidence within the group bottomed out.
One thing has pretty much remained consistent though – his effort levels – and he’s won plenty of fans over with his work rate, but now having scored in two of our last three games to take his tally to six goals in the Premier League and ten across all competitions, he appears to have really won over the fans of late.
Responding to his winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, here’s a selection of fans thoughts and many hope he remains with us even if relegation is the outcome as they believe he can fire us back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
You were superb again today Jay in what has been a very trying season for you. Faultless commitment and attitude – you are a credit and hope you will be with us next season, well done!! πππ#WBA

@MellorGary once again credit for helping @JayRodriguez9 with @WBA throughout the past difficult weeks. Now that itβs past us, and building on his outstanding performance today I hope Jay can see extending his career with us. Next season will be a key one for both parties.

Absolutely top drawer performance and deserved win but makes me so angry when i see performances like this and Liverpool in FA Cup and where we are in league. When I hear about players putting it in for Big Dave, what about putting it in for the supporters every week?

Met him at Stoke away. Had a good chat with him. Really nice bloke who cares alot also. Wouldn't surprise me if he stayed with us. Certainly wouldn't kick up a fuss.

Some fans also felt he was on the way to replicating a certain Jonas Olsson in style.

We do seem to be seeing more of the type of form he was showing that won him his solitary England cap before he suffered a horrific long-term injury, so long may that continue and whatever happens with relegation, ultimately, we should have a few things to cheer about as we look for hope ahead of 2018/19.
