West Brom Duo Take The Plaudits From Birmingham Clash

|

Friday evening saw West Bromwich Albion head coach Darren Moore take the boys to St Andrew’s for our first Championship clash of the year against Birmingham City.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 26th minute as Jota found his way past Sam Johnstone between the sticks, but it didn’t take long for Albion to level up with Matty Phillips getting his fourth goal of the year.

With a penalty save by Johnstone and opportunities for both sides, even though we dominated possession, the game could’ve gone either way really.

WhoScored have crunched their usual post game numbers and it’s probably no great surprise to see Phillips and Johnstone share in our highest rating with a 7.95. – the respective goal and penalty stop obviously lifted their scores.

Immediately post game, as the one graphic shows, Phillips was given 8.11 so they’ve obviously rebalanced since that was originally knocked up for me, but I think with his overall performance, it is fair that Johnstone gets his plaudits as well.
