“We want to eradicate as many arguments as we can”: Jake Livermore makes West Brom promotion claim

|

Jake Livermore has confirmed that the West Brom players are desperate to get back playing again providing it’s safe and revealed that winning the title is the aim.

Slaven Bilic’s men had lead the way for much of the Championship season but they lost top spot in the final round of games before this enforced break, with a 0-0 draw at Swansea giving Leeds the chance to leapfrog them with their victory against Huddersfield.

Nevertheless, Albion are still in a commanding position when it comes to winning promotion, as they hold a six point lead over third-placed Fulham with just nine games to play. Despite the healthy advantage, the Baggies do have to play the Cottagers again and they would be promoted if the EFL’s recommendation of applying points per game was passed and used right now – providing the season couldn’t go ahead.

However, the aim is to finish the campaign and Livermore told the club’s official site that the players are relishing the chance to get back out there – as he set his sights on beating Leeds to the title.

Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

We want to eradicate as many arguments as we can and settle it out on the pitch. Each and every team will have their own agenda but we want to finish top and get promoted. That’s what we set out to do.

I don’t think it’s a case of having any more motivation. I don’t think the boys could have any more because they have been flat out since the start of the season.”

And, there has been good news on that front today, with the Premier League confirming that all 20 clubs had agreed to resume contact training, which means a return to playing again is a step closer. Whilst that hasn’t officially been confirmed in the Football League, they are likely to follow suit ahead of a potential restart next month.
