West Brom are set to bolster their defence with the signing of Ugo Ehiogu from Middlesbrough in the next 24 hours.

The move will reunite Baggies boss Bryan Robson and the former Villa defender after they were together at Middlesbrough. Robson broke Boro’s transfer record when he signed Ehiogu for £8 million from Villa back in 2000.

Ehiogu 33, began his career at The Baggies but only made 2 appearances for the club before he was sold to Villa for just £40,000.

After nine seasons with Villa he was sold to Boro where he helped the Teesiders to their first ever trophy, the Carling Cup, in 2004.

Albion are hoping that Ehiogu can provide experience for the younger defenders in the squad including Neil Clement and the ever impressive Curtis Davies

Rumour has it The Baggies are also interested in Ehiogu’s Boro teammate Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, but there is nothing official as of yet.
