The fixtures for the 2008/09 Premier League season have just been published and its a tough start for the Baggies with an away game to Arsenal up first.

It will be an interesting comparison as West Brom were described as the Arsenal of the Championship last season as their slick passing game is reminiscent of the North Londoners.

The first home game will be against Everton, another tricky one. The Everton game is followed by a trip to Gary Megson’s Bolton which I am sure is a game that most Baggies fans will look out for.

The local derby against Villa will be played on 20 September at the Hawthorns with the return fixture held on 10 January 2009.

Zoltan Gera will make his return to the Hawthorns on 4 October.

Of course all of the fixtures are subject to date and time changes so don’t write them in your diaries just yet!

  • Its not an easy start especially at Arsenal. If you play football like you did last season the Arsenal game should be a great game to watch.

  • I’m really looking forward to this season and what better way to start than at Arsenal. Most supporters will expect us to lose against the Gunners but I just hope that we can continue to play the attacking football at the Emirates to show that we are not relegation certainties.

  • I am confident we will stay up but football has a habit of kicking you in the teeth.

  • Welcome back to the Premiership fellow Midlanders, not many of us about in the “Top Flight” Glad to have the local derby back too.
    Good Luck.
