“Told They Want Three” – Journalist Makes West Brom Claim Ahead Of January Window

|

After last season’s Play-Off disappointment against a certain local side, West Bromwich Albion’s fortunes have been turned on their head following the appointment of manager Slaven Bilic.

We may only be a few months into the 2019/20 campaign but as I type, we sit in second spot in the Championship table and will return to our now normal position with victory over Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium later this evening – and the two point gap over Leeds United will be restored.

With plenty of players in good form on an offensive front, and with us far more reliable this year at the back, a number of fans are wondering what we’ll do in the New Year when the transfer window opens. Will we simply tie up Mats Pereira to a permanent deal given that speculation – or maybe Chris Willock, or will we see a fresh face or two walk through the gates of The Hawthorns?

Sun journalist Alan Nixon feels we’ll be busier than that and this week he took to social media to claim that we were hopeful of bringing in at least three new faces to bolster what aren’t just promotion hopes, but title hopes.

“Told they want three. One would surely be a striker.”

With Hal Robson-Kanu finding his form and Charlie Austin getting himself three in three, the striker comment will certainly spark fans into thinking about Dwight Gayle again, but given the money on offer and our known financial issues in recent years, speculating to accumulate now could reap the greatest of rewards.

Back up and options are never a bad thing, but fans will also have to keep their eyes on possible departures given speculation of that nature.
