Head coach Alan Irvine has said he was very impressed with our front three in the game against Queens Park Rangers.

Lining up with Brown Ideye, Silvestre Varela and and Stephane Sessegnon, Irvine said that all three caught his eye with their performances and even though we lost the game, our attacking play pleased him immensely.

Speaking to the wba.co.uk he explained.

‘The three up front worked well. But it’s something we could only put together recently. Silvestre was like Brown, in that he missed pre season and got injured. Sess has played most of the games and played in different positions but that three up front look a handful and we’re pleased with how they’re progressing.’

With the focus on record signing Ideye, Irvine went on to say about the Nigerian international that he believes he’s now really starting to improve and show his worth as he now starts to find himself some form.

‘I think he’s progressing, he did a lot of good things on Saturday. He had a chance to score and should have done but he’s getting sharper and better – it’s only a matter of time before he will get his first Premier League goal and hopefully that will lead to more.’
