Jerome Thomas has been ruled out of our game against Blackburn due to his ongoing knee issue.

Roy Hodgson told wba.co.uk however that he was hopeful that even if the Manchester City game came too early, that Thomas would be ready for a return to action against QPR.

‘He’s got a bad knee that kept him out of the last game and it will probably keep him out on Saturday. I’d be disappointed if it goes on beyond the QPR game because it’s a knee problem he’s suffered with on and off at periods during the season.’

In other injury news, Chris Brunt is still struggling after his bout of tonsilitis but is expected to be fit for Rovers and Marton Fulup will remain absent with an ear infection.

Gabriel Tamas is also a doubt after his pregnant wife returned to Romania to give birth.

With a touch of humour, Hodgson added about our injury concerns.

‘We don’t have a large squad to choose from at the moment, we’re running on 19 senior players and it’s making the selection quite easy these days. Whichever 18 happens to be standing on Friday afternoon get picked!’
