Sometimes in the footballing world, there are transfers that go-ahead that just make absolutely no sense, and West Brom’s loan move for Chris Willock was one of those, as the Benfica loanee spent half a season with the club without playing one senior minute, and has now been recalled and sent to Huddersfield.

This is one that has particularly stung the Baggies. The fans had a real Twitter movement going where they’d been calling for Willock to get his chance in Slaven Bilic’s first team in the Championship, and #FreeWillock was very commonly seen amongst West Brom fans’ tweets.
However, now it seems Willock has been freed from The Hawthorns, but not at all in the way that the fans wanted to see. They will still have a chance to see him in the Championship, but unfortunately, it won’t be for them as the Terriers now have half a season with the player.

Wish you all the best Chris. An obvious talent shame it didn’t quite work for you here.

You’ve let this absolute talent go to Huddersfield. Can someone please explain why he was never able to penetrate the first 11? The kids talented. What a waste coming to us.

Should of been given a chance

The Baggies have got a lot of time for Willock, but now they’ll never get the chance to see him star for them.
