Sometimes in football, it’s the luck you’re handed that gives you the win, and West Brom were certainly on that side of the coin last night.
Full-time at Deepdale!
We leave it late, but Austin’s penalty makes it wins in a row and sends us back to the top of the @SkyBetChamp #PNEWBA pic.twitter.com/rdPUBxa6I6

The Baggies claimed an important 1-0 win away at Preston North End to send West Brom back to the top of the Championship and to keep the pace up with Leeds United in the two-horse race for the title, yet it seemed like Slaven Bilic’s side were a bit fortunate in their win.
Do West Brom have the best squad in the Championship?
Yes
No
Kyle Edwards seemingly went down easy inside the area in one of the final moments of the game to win a penalty for West Brom, which was promptly scored by Charlie Austin to ensure the three points were coming back home to the Hawthorns.
And some Albion supporters on social knew that lady luck had played her hand, with fans taking to Twitter to point out how fortunate West Brom were in coming out the other end of the match against Preston with all three points…
That was so lucky

Gutsy 3points tonight, well done again

Very lucky this evening!!! A very frustrating game. Ref made some awful decisions, including the penalty, but we have been on the receiving end of those bad penalty decisions. I do feel sorry for Preston, but back on.

Half the match you were giving me a heart attack, Jesus.

Only one Kyle Edwards!!!!
Never a penalty but owell. We was robbed the same way against Charlton. If you sit back at home all game, there isn’t much sympathy.— Andy Leeman (@AndyLeeman91) December 2, 2019
The win also made it five wins in a row, a run that Bilic and his players will seemingly want to keep up when they face Swansea City on Sunday.
