Albion last night agreed to the release of Terry Burton from his short term contract so he could join up with Dave Jones at Sheffield Wednesday.

Burton joined the club on a contract until the end of the season to fill the gap created by Appy’s departure to Pompey, and he leaves with the clubs best wishes.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Roy Hodgson said.

‘I would like to thank Terry for coming in and being such a big help to both myself and the rest of the coaching staff. It’s been very useful for us to have the benefit of Terry’s experience and coaching knowledge. We’re grateful for the time Terry has been with us and we wish him all the best for the future. I am convinced he will do an excellent job at Sheffield Wednesday.’

Hodgson added that given Burton’s friendship with Dave Jones, it was always known that he would wish to join up with him again if the opportunity arose and it was something the club wouldn’t wish to stand in the way of.

Dan Ashworth added.

‘He worked closely with Dave for such a long time at Cardiff that we understood his reasons for wanting to leave and I’m sure everyone at the club will join me in wishing Terry well in his new role at Hillsborough.’

Thanks, goodbye and good luck Terry.
