Swansea Centre-Back Nears West Brom Arrival

|

According to the Telegraph via the Birmingham Mail West Bromwich Albion have stolen a march on Leeds United in our reported chase for defender Kyle Bartley.

As John Percy’s Tweet reveals, the 27-year-old has been the subject of interest from a few clubs this summer and former club Leeds were heavily linked with taking him back to Elland Road. It’s believed the £3.5million transfer could go through ahead of the weekend as head coach Darren Moore chases his second capture of the summer even though he’s up in sunny Scotland at the moment on our four-day training camp.

Having come through Arsenal’s academy setup he took in a number of loan spells in his early years with time at Sheffield United and Rangers. Having made the switch to Swansea City, he took in another two spells with Birmingham City and Leeds who he was with in 2016/17. He certainly took praise for his performances with them but his return to Swansea saw him make only 12 appearances all campaign long last year.

If talks are at an advanced stage then in Moore we trust as we certainly need defensive recruits and Bartley has shown himself more than capable at this level previously. Getting a bit more traction on incoming deals with ongoing ‘out’ issues would certainly bolster spirits amongst the fanbase as well and at the price mentioned, Bartley could certainly be a snip when it comes to value.
