Stats: West Bromwich Albion v Liverpool

West Bromwich Albion welcomed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to The Hawthorns for Saturday’s early kick-off.

With caretaker manager Darren Moore taking a point from Swansea City in his first game and backing that up with an unexpected victory over Manchester United, hopes were certainly boosted ahead of this match.

West Brom did find themselves 2-0 down after 72 minutes, but Moore’s ability to get this side to react and battle for him and the fans once again came to the fore. Jake Livermore got a goal back with eleven minutes remaining in the tie and two minutes from the death Solomon Rondon squared things up at 2-2, seeing Albion take a point from the game.

Moore now has five points from a potential nine since taking charge and it will only strengthen the feelings of fans who wish he’d have been given a stab at things with more points left to play for.

The club remain in bottom place in the Premier League table, but as I type we are now three points off Stoke City, four off Southampton and eight from Swansea City. With Swansea having two games in hand, avoiding the drop is still incredibly unlikely and West Brom could, in fact, be confirmed as down following Sunday’s fixtures – but at least under Moore there has been some fight and effort.
