Stats: Manchester United v West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion took a shock victory over Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League fixture at Old Trafford.

With caretaker manager Darren Moore stating that the draw against Swansea had stopped the rot as we brought to an end our run of successive losses, fans will certainly find that claim easier to swallow with a 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho’s side.

With Jay Rodriguez finding the net in the 73rd minute of the game to give us the 1-0 victory, it did see Manchester City crowned Premier League Champions for 2017/18 but from our point of view it was the first victory since the win over Brighton back on January 12th and only our fourth win of the entire campaign.

Whilst the result was certainly a boost, avoiding the drop still seems incredibly unlikely as we continue to sit nine points adrift of 17th place and there are only four matches remaining in the season.

Moore was rightly proud of the performance as he spoke to the BBC.

“We played against a really formidable team today, asked a lot of questions, but everyone worked hard and did their jobs. I’m proud for the players and the staff and the way they have acquitted themselves today. I want the players to express themselves, show the outside world what good players they are. I am pleased we managed to show everyone that.”
