The Baggies boss Tony Mowbray will have to let someone go if he is to strengthen his side during the January transfer window.

There will be no money made freely available if a fresh face or two is needed so the boss will have to generate the funds himself and if that means selling off a prise asset then it will have to be considered.

The chairman Jeremy Pearce has made it clear that there will have to be some wheeling and dealing done by the manager if he is to generate some cash for new talent.

The news will no doubt alert clubs to Diomansy Kamara, Zoltan Gera, Paul Robinson and Jason Koumas who have all attracted the interest of other clubs before

Mowbray told the Birmingham Mail: ‘People might come in for a player we don’t want to let go but it might enable us to do something else – so we need to weigh all things up come January.

‘You want to keep your best players because that gives you the best chance, but sometimes the players you wouldn’t mind moving on aren’t those that people covet.’
