Shan Credits Moore For This As He Prepares For The Play-Off Battle Ahead

|

West Bromwich Albion interim head coach Jimmy Shan is diligently working on his plans for the final day of the regular 2018/19 Championship campaign, and the final result against fellow Play-Off hopefuls Derby County this coming Sunday could have a huge bearing on the makeup of the Semi-Finals.

West Brom can still nick third place from Leeds United if we win, and they lose, and that gets us away from Aston Villa and the presumed easier route through against Derby or Middlesbrough.

With Shan not yet selecting an unchanged lineup for his matches in charge since replacing Darren Moore, he was incredibly positive about the road ahead as he spoke to the E&S this week, and as well as stating that he was now quickly closing in on his preferred Starting XI, he wouldn’t rule out continuing to rotate as he thanked Moore for establishing the attitude in the dressing room.

“Of course we have a clear way of thinking and know our best team. After the Derby game, who we face will determine who we pick. One hundred per cent there’s clear direction on what we believe as a coaching staff is our best 11.”

Adding about continued rotation.

“Yes, there’s an opportunity to do that. They do that day in day out and have done that since day one. They all train with a purpose and great work ethic. Speaking to three or four who have been right outside it, their mentality and sole attitude is to make sure they are right should they be called upon. That’s the mechanics of a good team and a good group. That’s credit to the environment and the culture Darren Moore set.”

That might raise eyebrows for some, but this isn’t the time for those debates now. With the automatic spots a step too far, we simply have to seize this chance now and everyone has to be behind the group as things will only get more complicated if we fail to secure our return to the top flight.
