Second Half Strike From Youngster Sees West Brom Through In The Cup

|

West Bromwich Albion welcomed Luton Town to The Hawthorns for this evening’s Cup clash.

Kicking off at the later time of 8pm as the first Cup games of the year got underway this evening, head coach Darren Moore made a number of changes to the starting lineup and we saw the likes of Boaz Myhill come in, as well as Sam Field and Rekeem Harper.

Given our interest in the permanent transfer window in Jack Stacey, that added a bit of spice to the affair as he took to the pitch for them.

What matters though was West Brom built on the first Championship win of the campaign and took victory in this one against lower league opposition and courtesy of an Oliver Burke goal just after the hour mark we did just that even if it was a narrow 1-0 victory.

Fans would’ve hoped for more, but for anybody who pays attention lower down the pyramid, Luton are not a bad side at all and they showed that once again.

For Scottish international Burke, it was his first club goal and hopefully, given how highly he is rated even if he hasn’t hit the ground as he’d have hoped since his arrival, it’ll be the first of many more to come.

On a performance front, we did have more of the ball and the chances on the day, but some fans will always quibble at such a scoreline based on expectations.
