West Bromwich Albion have beaten rivals, Stoke City, to the signature of Liverpool and England keeper Scott Carson.

Carson has signed a 4 year deal and the Baggies have paid a fee of £ 4 million for his services.

The signing of 22 year old Carson, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, will surely delight West Brom fans who have been crying out for a new keeper since the beginning of last season.

Carson started his career at Leeds United making three first team appearances before his transfer to Liverpool in 2005. The young keeper made only four appearances for Liverpool in his time there but he has enjoyed loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday, 9 appearances, Charlton, 36 appearances and at Villa where he made 35 appearances.

So West Brom have signed a keeper who has Premier League experience but one who also has international experience. Carson has made 29 appearances for England under 21`s and 2 appearances for England ‘B`. Last season also saw him break into the England first team something he surely must be targeting again this season.

It is great news that a young English player has chosen the Hawthorns to progress his career. We wish him all the best for a long and successful career with the Baggies.
