West Bromwich Albion’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup third round last night was a disappointment for everyone as we’d hoped to see our more recent Championship form give us a small Cup run this season.

It wasn’t to be though and a poor performance from a number of players was only slightly offset by the fact that it would’ve been a harsh lesson for our younger players as they continue their own development with an eye on stepping up more to first-team duties this season.
You do have to crack some eggs to make an omelette after all.
The main disappointment for many fans, whilst acknowledging changes would be made and head coach Darren Moore would get match minutes into those who hadn’t featured regularly for us, was the balance of the side from the announcement of the team sheet last night indicated we were always going to struggle against a stronger Palace side.
No speed. All bench

I actually do rate it mate, some of these guys deserve a chance and it’s pointless throwing all of your energy into a league cup 3rd round game when our first team has just played Saturday Tuesday Saturday and we have a big game on Saturday

Yeah mate there’s no point getting our players injured in a third round game

Not very happy about it

Ten changes in hindsight was probably 2-3 too many, we just have to make sure this blip doesn’t translate into league form now.
