Roy Hodgson has said he was proud of the teams performance against Spurs last night despite the fact we suffered a defeat.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the 1-0 loss, the gaffer said he was delighted with the effort of his team especially given the changes our normal first XI suffered.

‘It was a good performance but we didn’t get anything from the game. Tonight (the fringe players) got their chance and I think they acquitted themselves very well.’

From Hodgson’s other words though it’s clear that whilst he is proud of the performance put in, he knows we seriously need to be getting results now and start pushing us up the table as he does comment on what is better – a good performance a loss, or a very lucky 1-0 win.

We are at the point where a couple of lucky 1-0’s are needed to balance our bad days.
