Record signing Salomon Rondon has spoken about his winner against Stoke City and skipper Darren Fletcher has welcomed former Manchester United colleague Jonny Evans to the club.

Beginning with Rondon who scored his first goal for the club since joining us the other week and the goal that turned out to be the winner against head coach Tony Pulis’ former side Stoke City, he was obviously delighted to have got off the mark.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the former Zenit man explained.

‘I am very happy to score my first goal for Albion. It was a big goal because it gave us the victory and our first three points of the season. Stoke are a difficult team so to beat them is pleasing. I am settling in well, England is very good. The Premier League is very tough so I know I have to work hard. I am pleased to score my first goal and hopefully I can score many more.’

One goal in what is now two starts and two substitute appearances should definitely give him a boost of confidence as he continues settling in to life at the club and the fact he possibly could’ve added a second in the game and made it more comfortable should be another boost for him as well.

Certainly looks a tasty signing so far.

As for Fletcher, and his interview about long standing friend Evans, he described him as being another great leader added to our camp this season.

‘Jonny is a fantastic player, a great leader. He is a top player. He has been at Manchester United for a long time. He has had a few injuries in the last few years which maybe stunted his progress in that respect. But if he gets a run of games you are going to see a real top-class player. I’m delighted he is at West Brom because I can’t speak highly enough of him. He is a top-class centre-half.’

Another signing that on paper should definitely improve us, especially with his experiences at United so hopefully he settles quick and results carry on in the Stoke vein.
