Report: West Brom prodigy who scored 4 against FA Youth Cup winners targeted by European elite

|

West Brom teenager Jovan Malcolm is reportedly on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs after a sensational season with the Baggies U-18 side in Premier League U-18.

Football Insider claims that the 17-year-old attacker has caught the attention of Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and reigning champions Manchester City as well as European super club PSG this season after a standout campaign in the Premier League development league.

Do West Brom have the best squad in the Championship?

Yes

No

As stats from Transfermarkt show, Malcolm has managed eight goals and two assists in 11 U-18 appearances for West Brom this season with the Albion currently sat fifth in the northern division of Premier League U-18.

The Daily Mail reported last month that a plethora of Premier League clubs were monitoring the 17-year-old prospect after Malcolm hit four past Liverpool this season in a 6-3 win for the Baggies, the same Reds side that last season won the prestigious FA Youth Cup for the fourth time in their history.

West Brom have in recent seasons had a fantastic success rate when it comes to promoting youth into the first-team, with the likes of Rekeem Harper, Kyle Edwards and Nathan Ferguson all breaking into the senior squad in the past 12 months, yet the Baggies need to ensure they don’t sleep too long on Malcolm.

With so many big-name clubs targeting the 17-year-old attacker, West Brom need to potentially accelerate the teenager’s route into the first-team and tie him down to the club for the long-term to not only steer other teams away from Malcolm but to also reward the winger for his brilliant work in the U-18 side.

Albion have already lost the likes of Morgan Rogers and Louie Barry to Manchester City and FC Barcelona respectively, and the club have to ensure Malcolm doesn’t become the next talented prospect to leave the Hawthorns for one of Europe’s elite.
