Report: West Brom plotting ambitious swoop for 21-y/o striker chased by Italian giants

|

West Brom are thought to be among the clubs monitoring Adolfo Gaich, with the San Lorenzo striker having a release clause in the region of £12m.

The 21-year-old Argentinian, who has won one cap for his country, has impressed for Azulgrana, scoring five goals in 12 games in the top-flight, whilst his nickname of ‘The Tank’ highlights the physicality that he plays with.

Such form has caught the eye, with TyC Sports claiming that Albion are one of a host of teams who have kept tabs on Gaich and the report states that the Baggies could make a move for the youngster if they win promotion.

However, securing his signature won’t be easy as the update explains that Inter Milan and Atalanta have shown an interest, along with Gent. Previously, it had been suggested that AC Milan were preparing an offer for the player last year but that transfer didn’t go through. So, whilst it would be tough for West Brom to finalise a deal, they would hope the Premier League may appeal to Gaich and he may have more chance of getting minutes than at the Italian clubs.

Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Either way, bringing in a striker is sure to be a priority for Slaven Bilic, if Albion go up, as top scorer Hal Robson-Kanu only has ten goals this season, whilst Charlie Austin hasn’t always convinced and Kenneth Zohore rarely gets a look-in now despite signing for £8m last summer.

Albion are in an excellent position to win promotion as they hold a six point advantage over third-placed Fulham with just nine games to play.
