Report: West Brom make contact over move for 14-goal midfielder

|

West Brom have held informal talks with QPR about the signing of attacker Eberechi Eze, a report from The Guardian has claimed.

Following their promotion to the Premier League this season, the Baggies are looking to boost their attacking options ahead of their return to English football’s top-flight, and it seems Eze is someone they are considering to fill that role.

According to the latest reports, the Baggies have held initial talks with QPR about a move for Eze, although it seems it will not be easy for them to secure the services of the 22-year-old.

Crystal Palace have reportedly seen a £12million bid for the attacker rejected – and are expected to return with an improved offer – while West Ham are also thought to be keen on signing the England Under 21 international.

For their part, QPR are said to be hopeful of receiving around £20million for Eze, meaning that this is unlikely to be a cheap signing for any club who are able to secure the services of the attacker.

Can you see Eze at West Brom next season?

Yes

No

Having scored 14 goals and provided eight assists for Mark Warburton’s side in the season just gone, it does look as though Eze would be an asset for West Brom next season, when they will surely need a stronger attack than the one they currently have if they are to be competitive in the Premier League.

It is therefore encouraging to see that they are at least taking tentative steps towards a potential transfer such as this, and given those links with the likes of Palace and West Ham, it would be a big marker laid down by the Baggies ahead of the new season if they were to win this particular transfer battle.
