West Brom have their eyes set on Rangers defender Connor Goldson, with the 27-year-old centre-back viewed as a target for both this month and the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, the English defender has come to the attention of Slaven Bilic, who is in the market for proven defenders who the club regard as capable of playing regularly in the Championship as well as the Premier League should West Brom clinch promotion back to the top-flight.

Football Insider also claimed earlier this month that both Leeds United and Fulham are also interested in the former Brighton defender, who this season has been one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players, with stats from Transfermarkt showing the centre-back has played every minute of the league and European football this campaign.

Do West Brom need to spend in January?

Yes, the squad needs that extra something

No, we're sorted for now

Goldson has also been a massive influence off the pitch for Rangers, particularly to summer signing George Edmundson that the 27-year-old defender has been a big role model for the youngster, with the former Oldham Athletic centre-back saying to The Scotsman: “He is really good to have in the team and I have learned loads from him.

The 22-year-old defender added with: “I learn from all of them but Connor has played really well this season and he is a good player to watch and learn from. I thought his performance in the Old Firm was ten out of ten.”

The Baggies are looking to strengthen this month with Bilic’s side yet to win a Championship game in the New Year, with West Brom looking to add more additions to their squad to bolster their chances of finishing in an automatic promotion spot come to the end of the season.
