Report: West Brom could revisit move for January target in next window

|

West Brom could make a move for Conor Gallagher again in the next transfer window, with the club said to be ‘big admirers’ of the midfielder.

The Chelsea youngster is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge but he has had to go out on loan to get minute and he really caught the eye at Charlton in the first part of the current season. During a 26-game spell with the strugglers, he scored six goals and registered four assists.

Such form prompted a recall from Chelsea as they looked to send him to a club challenging for promotion and whilst Albion were suggested as a potential destination, he eventually ended up at Swansea, where Gallagher has contributed with five assists in ten games.

Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Therefore, the next step in his development seems to be a loan in the Premier League and The Athletic reporter Steve Madeley has indicated that the Baggies could go back in for the energetic 20-year-old if they secure promotion back to the top-flight.

Albion are big admirers of the England Under-21 international and could offer him the chance of first-team football in the Premier League next season. A loan could be perfect for the player and both clubs.”

And, that looks likely to happen, with Slaven Bilic’s men currently six points clear of third-placed Fulham with just nine games to go, although they do still have to play the Cottagers. As well as that, the news that the EFL will recommend using points per game to decide the campaign if it can’t be completed has also boosted West Brom’s chances of promotion. However, the aim in the Championship is to finish the season on the pitch – something Albion support.
