Report: WBA star set for international return after being watched by football legend in 1-0 loss

|

Hal Robson-Kanu’s chances of returning to the Wales national team in time for EURO 2020 have received a massive boost after Ryan Giggs was registered present for West Brom’s 1-0 loss to Wigan Athletic.

Steve Madeley of The Athletic reports that the Premier League legend and Wales manager was spotted at the Hawthorns on Saturday as Robson-Kanu led the line for the Baggies in what was ultimately a disappointing defeat for Slave Bilic’s side, yet the 30-year-old attacker’s season as a whole could win him a place in Giggs’ squad for this summer’s European tournament.

As per the report, this season has been the first time Robson-Kanu has achieved double figures in terms of goals in his entire career, and although the attacker announced his retirement from international football in 2018, it is increasingly likely that the London-born striker will return to the Wales national team this summer for the EUROs.

Could Robson-Kanu start for Wales for EURO 2020?

Yes

No

Since the conclusion of the January transfer window and the signings of both Callum Robinson and Kamil Grosicki, Bilic has seemingly settled on his starting attacking three, with Kanu proving to be the main man up top as match stats from WhoScored show, and his form has been crucial for West Brom this season in their pursuit of Premier League promotion.

Goals against the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Charlton have been massive for the Baggies and have won Bilic’s side valuable points this campaign, and Robson-Kanu’s form this season more than warrants him a place for the Wales squad this summer for the EUROs.

The 30-year-old striker was crucial for Wales in their last outing in an international tournament four years ago, and with Robson-Kanu in the midst of his best club season so far, the attacker more than deserves a return to the national team with Giggs now at the helm.
