Report: WBA loan star ‘could offer some resistance’ to club in attempt to push for transfer

Filip Krovinovic could refuse a return back to Benfica with the 24-year-old unconvinced that the Primera Liga side will offer him first-team football.

O Jogo report via Sport Witness that the Croatian midfielder ‘could offer some resistance’ in the summer window to remaining in Portugal following reports that Benfica could be willing to use Krovinovic in their first-team plans for next season after a successful loan spell at West Brom, yet Baggies star is seemingly eager to remain at the Hawthorns.

Krovinovic has managed 34 appearances this season for the Albion and reports from both The Daily Mail and The Express and Star all-but confirm that Slaven Bilic is eager to make his fellow countryman a permanent member of the West Brom squad should they claim promotion to the Premier League this season if it is to be resumed.

With Krovinovic only managing 12 appearances in the entirety of the 2018/19 season for Benfica, it is understandable why the Croatian would be in favour of a move to West Brom for good in the summer, with the midfielder in recent fixtures proving to be one of the Baggies most important players as they sit second in the Championship table with nine games remaining.

With The Daily Mail and The Express and Star also reporting that Krovinovic will cost West Brom around £10m to £11m, Bilic could be eager to make the deal a permanent one if the finances are in order, and with the season set to resume on April 30th at the earliest, the Croatian midfielder could play a big role in the Albion clinching promotion back up to the Premier League, and all-but win himself a full-time move to the West Midlands club.
