Report: WBA chief confirms interest in £8.55m-rated ace who plays for ‘a hell of a national team’

Slaven Bilic has confirmed that West Brom are interested in Dinamo Zagreb attacker and Croatian international Mislav Orsic.

Speaking to The Birmingham Mail, the Baggies managed confessed that he is a big fan of the 27-year-old attacker, praising Orsic’s achievements this season which include a hat-trick in the Champions League for Zagreb as well as breaking into the Croatian national team, which in recent years has been littered with quality attacking prospects.

West Brom are keen to add more attacking firepower to their squad this January transfer window, and Orsic, who has a Transfermarkt valuation of £8.55m, is pulling ahead of other reported targets as the forward who is most likely to join the Championship side this month, and Bilic’s comments seem to indicate a deal could be done.

Are West Brom going to bottle their position in the top-two?

Yes

No

The former Croatian national team manager said: “Orsic is a good player, of course, he is a good player. He made his mark at Dinamo Zagreb, not only in the league but also in the Champions League. He has scored four or five goals in the Champions League, a hat-trick against Atalanta.”

Bilic later added with: “He broke into the national team and we have a hell of a national team, not an average one, we have a good national team. We are interested in him, yes. Is it going to happen? Who knows, we’ll see.”

With Orsic hitting 19 goals and assisting another five this season as stats from Transfermarkt show, the 27-year-old winger could be a sensational addition to the West Brom side for the second half of the season with the Baggies looking to claim promotion to the Premier League, and Bilic’s influence over Croatian football could make the Albion an ideal club for the Zagreb attacker who has exploded onto the scene this campaign.
