Report: Transfer update provided on 26-y/o West Brom man

|

West Brom are likely to let Kenneth Zohore leave the club in the next transfer window after an underwhelming first season at The Hawthorns.

With the Danish target man having starred for Cardiff City at this level in the past, he was seen as a good capture when he joined from the Welsh side in the summer, for a fee believed to be around £8m. Despite the hefty price tag, Zohore just hasn’t made an impact for the Baggies and has been restricted to just 15 appearances.

Slaven Bilic’s decision to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 means that there is only one role up for grabs as the main centre-forward and Hal Robson-Kanu has generally been the one to lead the line, with Charlie Austin as back up. So much so, Zohore hasn’t actually made the squad for a league game since way back in January, with his only minutes since coming in the FA Cup.

Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Therefore, it will perhaps come as no surprise that The Athletic reporter Steve Madeley revealed that the target man is likely to be on the move in the summer – particularly if Albion secure promotion as he won’t be needed and a new striker may come in.

Kenneth Zohore’s £8 million move from Cardiff has not worked out and the Dane appears likely to be shipped out again, possibly on loan, after just one season.”

Albion are certainly going to struggle to get anywhere near their money back for the player after his performances this season and he may be tough to shift anyway, as Zohore is contracted with the club until the summer of 2023.

He will still hope to play a part in the run-in though as West Brom look to finish the job of winning promotion. They are currently six points clear of third-placed Fulham with nine games scheduled to play.
