Report reveals West Brom’s stance on rumoured transfer target

|

West Brom are not interested in signing striker Albian Ajeti from West Ham, a report from Football.London has claimed.

The Baggies had been linked with Ajeti last summer, only for the Swiss international to join West Ham from Basel instead, although things have yet to really go to plan for the striker.

Ajeti has failed to score in 12 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, and looks set to be on the move again this summer, with the Premier League club apparently keen to move the forward off the wage bill, potentially through a loan to buy agreement.

It is thought that such a move to Scottish champions Celtic is currently up in the air, with Ajeti reportedly returning to Switzerland to consider his future, despite a deal being agreed between the two clubs.

Recent reports had also suggested that West Brom were again taking an interest in Ajeti as well, although it now appears that may not be the case.

According to this latest update, Baggies manager Slaven Bilic has no interest in bringing Ajeti to The Hawthorns this summer, as he prepares his side for a return to the Premier League after two seasons in the Championship.

Are West Brom right not to pursue Albian Ajeti?

Yes

No

This does seem to be a sensible decision for West Brom to make.

There seems to be no doubt that they do need to add a goalscorer to their ranks if they are to be competitive when they return to English football’s top-flight next season.

However, Ajeti’s suggests that he may not be capable of filling that role, meaning that relying on the 23-year-old would be a risk that would also take up space and funds in their side, indicating this is one not worth taking a chance on for the Baggies.
