Report: Former West Brom star reveals this player has been the club’s best signing this season

Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie believes that Matheus Pereira has been the club’s best signing this season with the Brazilian attacker taking the Championship by storm.

Speaking to Football League World, the ex-Scotland international confessed that the Sporting Lisbon loanee has been Slaven Bilic’s best new addition this season, with Quashie also giving recognition to fellow loan signings Grady Diangana and Filip Krovinovic, who have all asserted themselves as vital first-team players for the Baggies.

Bilic has been widely praised by supporters this season for his use of the loan market which has seen West Brom sign some big-name players that have played a big part in the Albion sitting top of the Championship table, but for Quashie, Pereira stands out above the rest for his incredible contributions to the club.

The former West Brom star said: “I think I would go with Pereira. I think Diangana coming in and getting game time has been really important for him. Sometimes these sorts of moves don’t work out, but Slaven Bilic has done really well in selecting the players to bring in. They (Pereira and Diangana) have responded well to the group, and they are getting game time. It works both ways, I think Diangana, Krovinovic, Pereira and Austin with his experience – the manager has done really well in the transfer market.”

As stats from WhoScored show, Pereira has truly been one of West Brom’s best players this season, with the 23-year-old attacker scoring six goals and assisting a further 12 in 25 Championship appearances so far this season, and with Sky Sports News reporting that the Baggies will make the loan deal a permanent one in the coming weeks, Bilic has seemingly pulled off a masterstroke of a signing to bring the youngster to the Championship club, who is proving to be a huge factor in the Albion’s incredible form this campaign.
