Former West Brom striker Salomon Rondon has waxed lyrical about his time with the Baggies as well as thanked Tony Pulis for bringing him to England.

Speaking to The Athletic, the 81-capped Venezuelan international praised the ex-Albion manager for signing him to the-then Premier League club which kick-started his career in the English top-flight, with Rondon highlighting that he enjoyed living in the city of Birmingham and that the support of the fans helped following his arrival from Zenit St. Petersburg.

Now at Chinese Super League side Dalian Pro with former Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez, Rondon had an enjoyable two seasons with the Baggies in their last spell in the Premier League with the 30-year-old striker scoring 28 goals and assisting 10 in 120 appearances in all competitions as stats from Transfermarkt show, and the South American target man seemingly has fond memories of his time at the Hawthorns.

Is Hal Robson-Kanu good enough for the Premier League?

Yes

No

Rondon said when asked about his time at West Brom: “I’m very thankful to Tony Pulis. I’d always enjoyed the Premier League because of how physical it is. I love that contact with big defenders, the fight, and West Brom gave me the chance to play in the best league in the world. I really liked Birmingham. I learned English with a teacher and everything was fantastic, the atmosphere, the food. The fans were really supportive.”

The former Malaga star might not have stuck around with West Brom following their relegation to the Championship, but it remains positive that Rondon still has fond memories with the club that gave him his first platform to impress in the Premier League as well as eventually make the move to China where the attacker has continued to put up solid attacking numbers as stats from Transfermarkt show.
