Ref Watch – West Brom v Bolton

|

The EFL have revealed the Officials who will take charge of the game between West Bromwich Albion and Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

Following relegation from the Premier League in 2017/18, now permanent head coach Darren Moore will be looking to draw a quick line on the improvements he’s seen from last season and across pre-season and see the Baggies get back to competitive winning ways at the first time of asking as we go into the 2018/19 Championship campaign.

Referee: Geoff Eltringham
Assistant Referees: John Flynn and Billy Smallwood
Fourth Official: Scott Duncan

The referee is a new face for West Brom as he hasn’t yet seen himself promoted into the Premier League’s select group of referees and he spent last season predominantly overseeing matches in the English second tier.

In 35 games last term, he showed 129 yellow cards and three red cards, going as far as to show nine yellows and one red in the March meeting between Preston North End and Bristol City. Only one game in 2017/18 saw him not resort to his wallet, so we can probably guarantee a booking or two.

The game takes place at The Hawthorns on Saturday, August 4 and the match opens our new season with a 3pm kick-off.
