Ref Watch – Nottingham Forest v West Brom

|

The EFL have revealed the Officials who will take charge of the game between Nottingham Foret and West Bromwich Albion this midweek.

With West Bromwich Albion opening the 2018/19 Championship campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, we head into our trip to the City Ground looking for our first win of the new season following relegation.

With the defeat meaning disappointment in the fanbase and some old quibbles coming out from last year, getting the first win on the board on Tuesday and picking up those three points will allow everyone to take a breath and settle as we adjust to life back in the second tier.

Referee: Tim Robinson
Assistant Referees: Jonathan Hunt and Matthew McGrath
Fourth Official: Darren England

The referee is another new face for West Brom as he spent most of 2017/18 in the Championship but he did get a decent run of EFL Cup and FA Cup matches as his proverbial stock continues to rise. In fact looking through his career, he’s never actually taken charge of a game involving the Baggies so this could be quite an experience when you factor in how card happy he appears to be.

In 47 games last term, he showed 150 yellow cards and a whopping eleven red cards. So there’s likely to be a few casualties in this clash as given the longer distance rivalry that some will appropriate to the match, you can imagine there’ll be a few tasty tackles if not slightly more across the 90 minutes.

For 2018/19 he’s already off the mark with cards as he showed five yellows and one red in the match between Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

The game takes place at The City Ground on Tuesday, August 7 and the match carries a 7.45pm kick-off.
