Head coach Tony Pulis has admitted that West Bromwich Albion need new players quickly before the summer transfer window closes.

Having taken a one nil victory over Bournemouth on the opening day of the campaign, speaking to Sky Sports following the match, Pulis admitted we needed new signings to bolster the group and to give us the depth we need to get through the season.

With new assistant Gary Megson saying we were trying for five new players earlier in the week, Pulis admitted.

‘We need to get some players in and quickly. Sam Field did fantastic today and Rakeem Harper but we need to get more players and good players. Everybody from around the football club is waiting for them to come in.’

Pulis went on to say.

‘They’ve got to be players that improve us. We will work tremendously hard the next two weeks to give us a better opportunity to do well. The squad’s just not strong enough. We only have 17 senior pros so we need to and we’ve got a few at the top age so it just needs restructuring.’

Speaking briefly about the game, he went on to add.

‘Jay’s been fantastic during pre-season. He’s brought a lot of energy to the football club and it looks like he’s going to score. We’ve taken Ahmed out of Egyptian football and he looks to be a really good buy for us. He’s a good lad, speaks very good English, he’s mixed in really well and he’s done well alongside Craig Dawson today.’
