Following the arrival of Arsenal’s Serge Gnabry on a loan deal today, head coach Tony Pulis has confirmed that Albion are still working on other deals.

Whilst nothing is across the line yet, Pulis explained to the local press that he was confident a few more deals would get over any remaining hurdles before the closure of the summer transfer window.

‘Behind the scenes we are working very, very hard to get the players in that we want. It is not a case of panicking. There are targets and we are trying to get those targets in. We know who they are and we know what they need. It is just getting it over the line.’

With continuing speculation about Joleon Lescott who it’s said we rejected a bid from Aston Villa over, Pulis went on to add.

‘The situation is Joleon has trained with us today and hopefully he will train with us tomorrow and the next day and be involved in the Man City game. Never say never to anything in football – I have told you that before – but as far as I am concerned, he has trained well today and we are looking forward to him being in the team and in the squad. He has missed the last couple of games for us but we are hoping he will be fit enough to be in the squad on Monday.’

The Birmingham Mail also carry quotes from Cardiff manager Russell Slade when it comes to our interest in their Scottish international goalkeeper David Marshall.

‘There is not too much of a latest. There has been no dialogue in recent days between the two clubs so there is no more information. The numbers have to be right of we are going to lose him. We all respect him and want him to stay. It is financial though, and if the money is right we will have to consider it. The chairman is dealing with it and he will let me know.’

Slade goes on to say it’s possible our interest has cooled somewhat because he’s confident if more talks had taken place he’d know about it – but as things stand having heard nothing – there is obviously no agreement in place when it comes to a price for the player.
