During the week, West Bromwich Albion confirmed that we had offered a short term contract to young French striker Cheikh Diaby.
Head coach Slaven Bilic brought the 19-year-old in for a trial spell, and over the last week the lad had impressed enough to secure a contract with us until the end of the season, and we hold a 12 month option on him as we assess him further.
He arrives from French club Le Havre, but was set to move to Spanish side Valencia before the deal fell through after a change in their management.

Obviously, he heads to our Under 23 setup initially as he adjusts to life at the club and Sporting and Technical Director Luke Dowling has high hopes for him.
Speaking to wba.co.uk as his capture was announced, Dowling said.
“We have taken an opportunity to give a promising young striker the chance to develop with us. We will see what the future will bring.”
Fans reacting to the news on social media were pretty hopeful that it would turn into a good deal for us down the line. If some of the Henry comparisons are accurate, he could well be a gem.
Watch this lad all through his career and for me he reminds me of prime Thierry Henry
